Hello, everybody! I am Shie Yu Hao (22) from 2P4 and this would be my Science E-portfolio for this Secondary 2 year. Well, I believe that you would not want to listen to what my hobbies are, what are my favourite food etc. I think you would like to listen to what are my aims and my interest in Science. Also, I ought to tell you who my science teacher is this year. She is called Ms Nada, a new science teacher for me though, but I feel that she is a nice and caring teacher!
Last year, I did well for my Science EOY but the sad thing is that, I did not get my exemption! This year, there is no exemption for Science either! (Although I know that there is exemption at a later date) This would not be a barrier for me to achieve high scores for science this year! Actually, I was kind of mad over all kind of sciences, be it Biology, Physics or Chemistry, since primary 3 but I have finally found a particular science that I really love about. It is forensic science!

Forensic science is really amazing. Looking at all the forensics doing the job to nabbed those nasty jerks! Looking at helping people/deceased had motivated me into this career but I would need to excel in science before I can get into this career. But sad to say, my science is not doing very well as I expected. I will work hard towards my goal! Forensic, HERE I COME!!

lastly biology. I was thinking how am I selected into science Olympiad, I have lots of interest to science but my science is also counted as "ok" in the whole cohort. Since I am selected, then I shall give it a try. Science Olympiad has seriously made me realised that my science is not that good after all. Comparing to my friends in science Olympiad, my science knowledge is so incompetent towards them! They know much more stuffs than me even the science Olympiad officially begin. I feel that I am the one left out, feels so lonely..... But that didn't stop me from getting to know them and obtain more science knowledge.
Still remember during the 1st lesson of chemistry, I only knew 1 person called Benedict. We were friends and I only dared to talk to him. Slowly, as the lessons progresses, I started knowing new friends, and we shared knowledge with each other. We do not keep knowledge just to ourselves, we share and we will learn more! This is the learning spirit that we had. Although nearly half of the lessons in chemistry Olympiad I do not understand, I approached my friends and my seniors for assistance. Slowly I grabbed hold of what the teacher is talking about and slowly absorbed whatever he had taught. This is highly beneficial as it would be a good head start for me in secondary 3's chemistry.
After 5 lessons of chemistry, we moved on to Physics. I wouldn't say I am very strong at physics, but I should be doing fine with it since physics is mostly about maths. In the entire physics Olympiad, we were introduced dynamics and kinematics taught in secondary 3. Seeing all those equations and formula to be remembered, I was stunned. Memorizing those formula will not be very difficult, but understanding and applying them is the most important. I was trying to figure out how each formula works through logic but I am still not very clear by now. There will much chance for me to voice out my questions in secondary 3 since this is just a crash course!!
Lastly, I ended my science Olympiad journey in term 3 with biology. It is a topic that I have some background knowledge in as I learn quite a lot in environmental science. Fortunately, I was taught more on ecology, playing around with environment and organisms. It was not very difficult to understand biology but the practicals that is needed to be done requires time. But it was also some interesting lessons gone through in biology Olympiad.
In the whole science Olympiad that I have gone through, I have indeed gain a lot more knowledge in science but I feel that the friendship between my friends and I is more worth while than those knowledge. It is when all of us learn together that has caused my Olympiad training a fun, interesting and memorable one! Of course, thanks to all the teachers that had put in a lot of effort teaching us. :D

I had Physics Olympiad trainingam very privileged this year to be able to get into science Olympiad. In science Olympiad, I am learning some stuffs that I will be learning in Term 3secondary 3. I am in the Gamma group thus I will start with chemistry, then physics and lastly biology.

In my introduction, I had already stated that I love Forensic Science, and the god has given me a great chance to explore more on forensic science in term 3. I was extremely lucky to have a IDS in term 3 which is also a forensic science challenge. It is over a period of 4 days where we are in groups of 4. We are supposed to crack a case using the evidence that we have and the statements of witnesses. I am in group 30 and my group mates are Koh Kah Xuan, Tan Chuan Xin and Per Sheng Xiang and we are all from the same class. :D

Seems like I still have a long way to go before being experienced enough as a forensic scientist. In just such a small case, I know that I am not as capable as I thought I would be as I missed out many crucial evidences and links that I should not have missed out. THEREFORE, WORK HARD!
